SOUND IN PUBLIC SPACE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SONIC CELL<\/strong> seeks ways to present musics and sound art outside familiar spaces such as concert halls, and off main stages. We conquer the city’s spaces sonically to activate synergies with the available urban and natural environments. We find our locations on plazas and parking spaces, in residential areas and the greenery of the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OBJECTIVE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SONIC CELL<\/strong> aims to activate neighbourhoods and tap into a new audience by delivering art to their doorstep. czirp czirp<\/em> sees by placing art in urban space the potential for musicians to leave their usual habitat and a moment of insight, for the audience, into other, unfamiliar worlds. We want to promote dialogues between artists and the audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SONIC CELL 2021 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

czirp czirp \u2013 sonic and experimental arts<\/em>,\u00a0RAD Performance<\/em>\u00a0(Conny Zenk<\/strong><\/a>), and the sound designer and composer\u00a0Gustavo Petek<\/strong>\u00a0(smallforms<\/em><\/a>), conceived of ways how to implement a mobile infrastructure for experimental musics and sound art. Proof of concept in 2021, located at Schlesingerplatz 1080, showed how urban spaces could be quickly transformed into a temporary venue for multichannel compositions. SONIC CELL 2022 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The second, post-pandemic set-up in 2022 focussed on including acoustic and electronic instruments in the listening experience. We reached out to local artists who explore unique sonic universes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our third year added yet another layer of sound and awareness to the squares of Schlesingerplatz 1080 (Josefstadt) and Dornerplatz 1170 (Hernals) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In seeking our own way to synchronize with the quantum centennial, the 2025 edition of SONIC CELL engaged artistic practices that addressed technological, material, and social questions of interconnectivity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
