Everyone in Vienna knows God\u2019s Entertainment.<\/p>\r\n

But what exactly it IS isn\u2019t quite so easy to explain because rather than simply being theatre or performance, it is a sociological experiment that explores questions of destiny, human empathy, our abilities, but more importantly, our inabilities, humanity’s love for risk-taking, and its idiocy.<\/p>\r\n

Based in Vienna, the collective \u2013 which has been exploring the boundaries between art, politics and society through radical approaches since 2006 \u2013 always works with a changing line-up and deliberately seeks to provoke confrontations with every kind of \u2018establishment\u2019 (top and bottom, right and left).<\/p>\r\n

Their works usually move beyond the traditional theatre settings and take place in public places, private homes, and rather unconventional venues. Involving the audience is one core feature of the collective’s practice. Here, the audience becomes an agent of the social sculpture. An approach, which is done with \u2018the utmost precision\u2019 in the spirit of an affective realism.<\/p>\r\n

God’s Entertainment’s core members include Boris Ceko, Maja Degirmendzic, Simon Steinhauser and Domokos Iszlay. Since the 2010s, the collective has been attracting attention beyond Vienna\u2019s borders and is regularly invited to prestigious festivals (Wiener Festwochen, Donaufestival, HAU Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg, Liverpool Biennale).<\/p>\r\n

Current projects include the exhibition and performance series \u201cLSD \u2013 Words and their Worlds\u201d (2024), and an ongoing collaboration with Black Page Orchestra. The God\u2019s can look back on a series of large-scale projects such as \u201cHuman Zoo\u201d (2014) or \u201cAustrians, integrate yourselves!\u201d (2012). They are facilitators of impactful reference works for German studies, such as \u201cDULDEN\u201d (ed. Azadeh Sharifi, 2023). Their focus lies in the fault lines of society, with great humour and the hope of remaining unscathed despite their radical openness. Quite true to the motto: \u201cdon\u2019t bite my finger, just look at where I\u2019m pointing\u201d<\/strong> (Peter Weibel).<\/p>\r\n

BLACK PAGE ORCHESTRA<\/h2>\r\n

BLACK PAGE ORCHESTRA is an ensemble founded in Vienna in 2014, which dedicates itself to the radical and uncompromising musics of our time.<\/p>\r\nThe ensemble takes its name from Frank Zappa\u2019s composition The Black Page<\/em>, a piece whose score appears almost entirely black due to the high density of notes. Alongside this pictorial approach to the music score, the ensemble focuses on works that reach for electronics, video and various contemporary technologies, as well as compositions whose performative nature extends far beyond a conventional classical concert setting (Fluxus). An experimental and varied programme is part and parcel for this collective.<\/div>\r\n

Gert Resinger<\/h2>\r\n

Gert Resinger (b. 1984) is a visual artist and curator from Vienna. He studied Fine Arts, painting at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Johanna Kandl, Thomas Zipp and Henning Bohl. Alongside his own artistic practice, he co-founded the Viennese studio and exhibition space \u2018Dessous\u2019 with Anny Wass in 2014, which he co-curates.<\/p>\r\n

Building on an expressive, process-oriented approach to painting, Gert extends his work to include wall installations and sculptural lettering pieces for public space. His work is characterised by pop art elements, comic-book references and surreal fantasy figures, which he also combines with mouldings of body fragments. Gert\u2019s lettering appears very straightforward, yet it is precisely its overload and weight that opens up space for interpretation, resonating with personal, political and social themes.<\/p>\r\n

Gert’s works have been presented internationally in solo and group exhibitions (including Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Mexico, and the USA).<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
